After altering the constitution and focusing on the direction that the Hispanic Presidents' Council (HPC) wants to pursue, the HPC team have challenged themselves to promote HPC as the organization that is truly the voice of the Hipanic population at Texas A&M. It has been brought to the organization's attention that the Hispanics on campus have the shortest retention rate out of any other ethnicity; this being of great concern, HPC wants to encourage every Hispanic student to voice their concerns by either sending an e-mail or joining the organization.
A&M is a wonderful university to attend with its many traditions and respective reputation, but because Hispanics are underrepresented here on campus, this is has detered high schools students from applying to such a prestigious university. There are many opportunities here for Hispanics to reach their eduation potential, and HPC wants to be that voice and motivator to educate and influence Hispanics around the state of Texas. With the help of all Hispanics on campus, we can make this university more diverse so that we can embrace the camaraderie within our Hispanic community which can be the difference for the generations to come.
HPC is working on many projects that'll reach out not only to the College Station/ Bryan community, but to other communites around the area; but the most important way of improving the diversity of our campus is through networking.
This spring semester HPC has also taken the initiative to start coordinating the month long celebrations of Hipanic Heritage Month. We are looking forward to bringing together all Hispanic organizations on campus. Any organizations who would like to contribute and represent during HHM are gladly welcomed as well as any hispanics who currently do not belong to an organization; we hope that you would proudly join HPC.
If your organization would like to become part of HHM please e-mail Aggiehpc@gmail.com
